Biography

Bess’s unique sultry voice and chilled-out set exudes bohemian charm. An acoustic soul singer and song-writer, Bess has a unique quirky slant and performs standard jazz classics as well as modern songs from the likes of Amy Winehouse, Duffy and The Who. One song from her album, Shimmer Shine, won the BACS award in 2005 for Best Song. This led to a showcase at the Carling Academy and writing session with producer Elliot Kennedy. Performances with her distinctive, husky and soulful tone have secured sessions with the likes of Phill Thornally, Stereo Mcs and Katie Tunstall. She has also played and collaborated with acts as diverse as Roots Manuva, Mano de Dios and Jelone Sheknique, enabling her provide quality and enjoyable entertainment. She can provide either a stripped down soulful duo acoustic set playing well known covers from the likes of Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheehan, Sia and Prince. Or her brilliant covers band who deliver an original and unique twist on their carefully selected songs from Soul to Funk. Pop to Rock think Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder to Sia, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay.
